Puppeteering Material Animation

In addition to the bones, the materials of an accessory can be modified in real-time via the Controller once the corresponding material change parameters have been set up in the Builder.

Preparing a Model with Material and Texture Settings

  1. Build a hierarchical model in iClone.
  2. Appropriately adjust the model before proceeding. Please refer to the Preparing Custom Accessory section for more information.
  3. Apply textures and material settings to each part of this group of props (in this case, the Glow map channel contains an image).

Please refer to the Multiple Channel Texture Mapping section for more information.

Setting Puppeteering Data

  1. Apply the Dummy Character prop into the scene.
  2. Attach the prop to the dummy character to turn it into an accessory.
  3. Apply Builder to the scene.
  4. Click the Accessories button and pick the accessory in the scene.
  5. Correctly set the parameters for the parameters in the Define Controllers page. Make sure that, in the Assign Node(s) for Controller Handles step, the materials of the parts that you want to puppeteered must be activated at least as shown in the illustration below:
  6. Move to the Define Puppet Behavior page.
  7. Click one of the axes around the compass to enter edit mode.
  8. Increase the strength of the Glow map to make the part glow.

    Note:

Please note that all the key-able (highlighted in blue) parameters can be used as the puppeteering data.

  9. Repeat the previous step to adjust the material settings for the other parts.
  10. Click the Apply button to apply the results to the desired axis.
  11. Repeat steps 6 to 8 until every axis has its unique puppeteering data.

    Note:

Please refer to the Assigning Accessory Animations to Axes section for more information.
